This pic of my daughter and I was taken during a hiking adventure I took with some friends and their kids recently. We had to scale a pretty decent cliff to get access to this amazing waterfall and plunge pool but it was worth it (although coming down was another story!!)
When we reached the waterfall I did what I would typically do, sat a watched while the kids enjoyed the water. I am not well known for being adventurous, I am the kind of girl who always plays it safe, I dont usually push myself outside of my comfort zone too much. In the past a lot of my body image issues were to blame and I would stay dry in order to prevent having to do the walk of shame in my swim suit to the edge of the water. But all that changed last year when I started working on loving my body. I saw an amazing film called Embrace (which I will link in my love page) and it inspired me on a journey towards self acceptance and positive body image. So you could say I have been building my muscle around confidence and finding ways to challenge my old thoughts and beliefs, (and not give a stuff what anyone else thinks).
So on the day this photo was taken I was sitting on the rock looking on at the others and I instantly thought to myself, you will never be here in this moment again, you will never have this opportunity again so what are you waiting for? I literally stripped down to my undies (didn't pack my swimming gear) and bra and just dived in. My kids were horrified (little prudes not sure who taught them that) but it was so empowering and liberating I just didn't care. I was fully present in the moment and it felt amazing.

So here is the first pics of my new veggie garden. Evidence that I have been able to follow through on a commitment I made to myself and my life coach last year. I cant wait to show her the results tomorrow in our session. I must say I am very proud of what I have managed to achieve so far. Ok so I haven't actually harvested anything yet (except one lonely strawberry that was only half ripe that my son picked and took delight in watching me eat. It was delicious too) I am working towards a full harvest of lettuce (plenty of lettuce, went a bit overboard with the lettuce!) spinach, tomatoes, capsicums, eggplant, Pak choy, coriander, spring onions and chilli's, oh and a heap of herbs which are growing very well at the mo.
Its always been a running joke in our house hold, that I could even manage to kill weeds! my husband has taken delight in watching my epic fails over the years, with his ever supportive " I told you so" but this time I was determined to prove him wrong. I have been studying and picking peoples brains to gain as much wisdom as possible to go into this adventure with some idea of what I am doing. Its a bit of trial and error I find as everyone's veggies grow differently with different lights, different soils, amount of water,  compost etc., etc. I have enough enthusiasm this time round that I'm sure if anything dies it will be killed with kindness and not neglect. Keep watching for the pics of my produce I will hopefully be reaping the rewards in a few short weeks. Yummy.
